When The Courtyard at McHenry recently re-introduced its newly renovated memory care community, the public showed up in a big way to celebrate this valued resource for local seniors and families.
Chain O’Lakes Area Chamber and McHenry Area Chamber members helped cut the ribbon for Memory Care’s symbolic re-opening. They welcomed dozens of guests to the November 7th Open House at The Courtyard at McHenry, 3300 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL.
The Courtyard at McHenry’s Director of Sales and Marketing Jodi Borck addressed the crowd, saying, “It’s wonderful and moving to see so many community members come out to support our community—people taking care of each other is what I see and is what we’re all about at The Courtyard.”
Creating buzz and excitement, the popular DJ Tina Bree from STAR 105.5 radio broadcast live from the event on-site. “The Courtyard’s newly renovated memory care community is so open and welcoming!” said Bree. “It’s an important decision to make for our loved ones dealing with Alzheimer’s or dementia, so you should know that they take memory care seriously and passionately here.”
More than a Beautiful Space
Guests enjoyed seasonal cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, raffle prizes, giveaways, and tours of the cozy, comfortable, and refurbished memory care community. Tours by Courtyard team members highlighted the building’s bright, open spaces, easy-to-navigate layout, and private suites with safety features as well as calming color schemes and elegant design finishes that match The Courtyard’s independent and assisted living community located across the way.
“Keeping a consistent design between assisted living and memory care helps ease the transition for residents who move from one care level to the next,” explained Borck. “Right away, Courtyard residents who relocate to memory care can feel at home and experience a sense of comfort in their new space.”
The Courtyard at McHenry’s Memory Care offers support for residents with early, mid-stage, and advanced Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. Professional, licensed nurses and personal care assistants, all of whom have specialized training in caring for people with memory loss, assist with daily tasks, medication management, safety checks, and a variety of activities to enrich the body and soul.
Memory Care is part of the continuum of care services offered by The Courtyard at McHenry, including independent and assisted living. “Offering different levels of care gives our residents and their families peace of mind knowing that they never have to move again even if their care needs should change,” Borck said.
